In a trip with many amazing days, this was one of the highlights! Starting in Peach Springs, along Route 66 in the Hualapai Nation, we took a bus along a bumpy road to the launching area along the river.

We started in the South Rim Visitor’s Center and had to immediately check which national parks ranked above the Grand Canyon on the Parks-opoly game that we had seen previously. (The Grand Canyon is a yellow, which Bill and I agree is shameful. It should be green at least!) We also watched a short movie about the park, and, of course, stayed to the end so James could dance to the credits. Canyon #3: Antelope Charlotte, Dan, and I left the twins with Uncle Bill and visited Antelope Canyon, which is run by the Navajo people. We rode to the canyon in open trucks with seats on opposite sides of each other and were a little concerned as all the other vehicles got further and further ahead of us on the sandy dried riverbed that is the road. We took a guided tour with Kerndale, who was very helpful with camera settings inside the dimly lit canyon. It’s kind of like a cave with skylights and the walls are beautiful shapes and striated colors created by wind and water. At times, there have been flash floods in the canyon, which are very dangerous, as people get trapped. We made it through ok and then followed our flute-playing guide back to the truck. Princes in their Castle! July 6 & 7 From the moment we first walked into our castle shaped hotel, Las Vegas exceeded my expectations. (And probably caused sensory overload for my twins.) We arrived late and instantly crashed, but travelled through time and space the next day, visiting New York, Paris, Venice, ancient Rome, Hollywood, and more in the span of a few blocks. For July, I'm going to shift gears a little from snow sports to traveling, as my family embarks upon our Great Western Adventure. If my life were a sitcom (as it seems to be many days), its name would be "Double the Adventure." The cast includes 18-year-old Tom, a kind, gentle soul who longs only to spin and be left alone, his twin James, who plays instruments and quotes Dr. Seuss perfectly (and frequently), their younger brother Daniel, a talented boy scout who will be making his debut as a ski instructor this winter, French "amie magnifique" Charlotte, our au pair for a year who has voluntarily vacationed with us since (!), and my beloved brother Bill, our fabulous host in California. We're hoping to see various guest stars during our trip as well. Who needs a vacation when you can have an adventure?! At least that's what I'm telling myself... I like this message, but do wish they spelled it's properly!
